Hebei Provincial People's Procuratorate and Hebei Women's Federation recently issued a circular that urged procuratorates and women's federations, at all levels, in Hebei to improve their work concerning judicial assistance to women in need.
The circular stressed a cooperative mechanism should be established for procuratorates and women's federations to regularly share information about cases that involve judicial assistance to women. The circular also urged relevant parties to study ways to improve the work of providing judicial assistance to impoverished women. The document suggested procuratorates and women's federations should establish leading groups to coordinate and guide efforts to provide judicial assistance to women in need. During the past three years, procuratorates in Hebei have handled more than 900 cases involving judicial assistance to women, and they have granted more than 15.8 million yuan (US$ 2.4 million) in financial assistance to women in need.
